The Refuge

" They say there's a refuge up north safe from all this. Though it's not meant for you or me..."
The Refuge (Game)
A bitsy game I made for an Interactive Fiction class, about the end of the world, and those who seek to hide from it.

Unfilled

" The stack of fake IDs he'd been holding flew wild, into  the dirt, lamination gleaming in the mid-morning sun..."
Part of the amazing Los Suelos Anthology. Los Suelos is a surreal multimedia trip into Central California, check it out!
My story has a hole in it.
Unfilled

A Dinner Party

" You know how the 70's were... The idealism of the 60's was approaching death's door, but Reagan hadn't yet slit its throat. We were all looking for something to believe in..."
Based on a true story.
Kind of.
Not really.
A Dinner Party

Empty

" My breathe stopped when I noticed the red light blinking. Empty..."
A story about a normal day at a frozen yogurt shop, with absolutely no social commentary.
Empty

The Nudists' Masquerade

" No virtual, all reality..."
A sardonic story about the not-so-distant future.
The Nudists' Masquerade

Scented Oils Laid Upon the Head of a Moribund Child

Or

The Watchman

" The town had been assigned no name, so far out title was deemed a risk of Dispropriety..."
A possibly cosmic horror, possibly just grim, short story I wrote. Loosely Inspired by China Miéville.
The Watchman

The Witch Of The Molderwoods

" Tell me girl, why do you want to learn magic...?"
A small Twine story I wrote for the Narrascope 2020 Game Jam.
The Witch Of The Molderwoods (Twine)

A Murder In Engrams

" Ironic to be a ghost in a dead man's memories..."
An attempt to dip my toes into the interactive writing space. A single Twine mystery game with a loose cyberpunk feel. Part of the Spring Things 2020 Festival of Interactive Fiction.
A Murder In Engrams (Twine)

At The Border Post

" The mist ocean was a midnight blue, and stretched as far as Virge could see..."
A story I came up with on a walk during a foggy night... well actually it wasn't that foggy, but that makes the story better, so let's pretend.
At The Border Post

Starlight

" We all knew it was coming... Even if we didn't want to admit it. Nothing last forever, civilizations, lives, stories... the world..."
My first project at the Calarts Game Maker's Club. I wrote the script and design many of the level layouts.
Starlight (Game)

Alcon Blue

" Her birth was from a storm, there was none like it; the night sky a lavender glow, the air rushing with the scent of rotting flowers..."
My first flash fiction piece I wrote at my MFA program. I studied a lot about reproductive strategies in my undergrad Biology program, and I think it may have warped my view on parenting somewhat.
Alcon Blue

A Sheep In His Clothing

" Tell me what you know about Ms. Zueller...."
This piece came out of a short story class in spring 2018. It's a mutation of an idea I've been playing with for awhile. It may return again in another form.
A Sheep In His Clothing

That, Which Was Bought

" Know this, what I tell you is not true. It is just a story, just words. It is important that you do not forget this..."
I wrote this flash fiction piece in 2017, right after finishing Brian Evenson's A Collapse of Horses. It was published in Literally Stories” in 2018 and also received an honorable mention in volume 33/60 of “Allegory” online magazine.
That, Which Was Bought

Through The Writhing Lands

" The skinchip trade has made many a fool rich, and left many more rotting on the banks of the Scar..."
A small class project I made using Choicescript in 2018.
Through The Writhing Lands (Game)

The Monster Hunter

" The man in the black cloak came in from the forest. I did not know then he was a monster hunter, though I did have a familiar dread in my stomach..."
I wrote The Monster Hunter back in 2016. It was published in Space Squid in 2017, and helped give me the heart to apply to MFA programs later that year.
